USDA reorganizes Food Safety and Inspection Service and establishes new National Food Safety Center
The USDA has announced a structural reorganization of the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), including the creation of a new National Food Safety Center in Urbandale, Iowa. The center will consolidate key headquarters functions, while frontline inspection operations across more than 6,800 regulated establishments remain unchanged.
ISO 14001:2026 published, marking first full revision in over a decade
ISO has released ISO 14001:2026, replacing the 2015 edition with refined language, stronger alignment with climate and biodiversity priorities, and better integration with other ISO management system standards. Certified organizations have until April 2029 to transition.
SGS expands portfolio with three acquisitions
SGS has acquired Trident (US-based industrial inspection and engineering), Alverad (UK cybersecurity and operational technology), and OSGAPI (French flood vulnerability diagnostics), further extending its capabilities across industrial inspection and digital trust.
ISO 9001 revision advances to Final Draft International Standard stage
The revision of ISO 9001 has reached the FDIS stage, with publication of ISO 9001:2026 expected in September 2026. The update introduces targeted changes around quality culture, ethical behavior, and climate change considerations, with a three-year transition period expected after publication.
GOTS certified facilities grow 15% globally as Version 8.0 takes effect
Global Standard’s 2025 Annual Report shows nearly 18,000 facilities worldwide are now certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard, a 15% increase from 2024. The report coincides with the March 2026 release of GOTS Version 8.0, which introduces mandatory due diligence, strengthened environmental requirements, and new circularity provisions, with full compliance required by March 2027.
